Not more rain – A Cyclist’s Lament

Filed under: by me — Tags: — velochick @ 9:13 pm

how can I cycle

if it rains all the time

how can I cycle

 it’s supposed to be summertime?

every day

it rains

or hails

or snows

the wind blows the trees down

with a thud

What is it about cyclists

that brings out the wrath of God?

No Goalies

This one is by Phil Ilton

Not a hill to highlight the landscape

Not a tree to treat the eyes

Nature nullified on this northern nullabor

Only one thing to aim for

the next ten-kilometer sign

goalpost of the outback cyclist

Old Man on a Bike by Peter Sizer

Filed under: age — Tags: — velochick @ 11:21 am

This is a quote from it:

I’m pedaling in to work

thinking about God’s works

He’s pedaling into work

Old man and old grid

not far to go now

to the end of the ride

look at him, weaving

slow and slower, in an out

of the hating, narled up traffic

he’s old and slow

but skilful

he’s doing no harm

but patient

under unjust rebuke
